As we know within the DALF, there are two different levels: C1 and C2 which are the most advanced DELF-DALF diplomas in French. Thus, the DALF is divided into 2 independent diplomas, each linked to 2 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR).

People who have passed the DALF (C1 or C2) are exempt from taking language tests to access French universities.

DALF C2 Diploma

The C2 exam assesses your command of French paying special attention to accuracy, adequacy and fluency. To obtain the diploma, you must be able to demonstrate the language skills necessary to be successful in high-level academic or professional settings. This exam consists of:

  • A group test (4h) that includes reading and writing articles

  • Individual test (1h of preparation, 30 min of presentation) divided into 3 parts:

    • Listening to a recorded document,

    • Personal development of the subject 

    • Discussion with examiners (oral production).

Each presentation gets 25 points out of a total of 100 points. To pass the exam, you will need to score 50/100 or 50%. Being the minimum grade required for test 5/25, if you pass the exam you will obtain a valid diploma for life.

The importance of the C2 level

C2 is the highest level of the CEFR and DALF C2 is the highest diploma in French as a foreign language. C2 candidates are trained to use the language for academic and advanced level purposes.
