Faq. Exámenes Aptis

How is the Aptis scored?

Aptis results are presented in two ways: Numerical score: a scale of 0 to 50 for each assessed skill and a score for the grammar and vocabulary component. ... If all four skill components have been completed, an overall CEFR level will also be awarded.

The Aptis Speaking Test assesses your ability to communicate in English in real-life situations. It takes about 12 minutes and is divided into four sections.

APTIS Exam Scoring: What You Need to Know

Aptis results are expressed in two ways: with numerical scores and through the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

1 Numerical score: this score is on a scale from 0 to 50 per skill (known as a 'scale score').

If you have performed Aptis 4-skills (including all four skills) you will receive a final score (Final Scale Score): / 200.

If you have done one, two or three skills, your final score (Final Scale Score) will be:

−−50 (a skill)

−−100 (two skills)

−−150 (three skills)

These scores reflect your performance in skills and are a reflection of your ability to understand and communicate in English.

Gramatic and vocabulary

You will also receive a separate score for Grammar & Vocabulary. This score reflects your knowledge of the grammar and vocabulary of the English language.

The score for this component is also / 50 and is not included in your final score. (Final Scale Score.)

CEFR levels

CEFR levels (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) by skill:

A0, A1, A2, B1, B2, C. A0 is the lowest level and C the highest.

These levels are calculated using your numerical scores from the 0 - 50 scales.

If you have completed Aptis 4-skills, you will receive an overall CEFR Grade (Overall CEFR Grade.) This is calculated using your CEFR results for all four skills.

Gramatic and vocabulary

The Grammar & Vocabulary component is a very important part of Aptis, as it helps provide a detailed profile of your language proficiency. Your score on this component can also be used to improve your skill scores: if your MCERL score falls a little below the next level border, the Aptis system is designed to carefully examine your score on Grammar & Vocabulary.

If this is high enough, you will get the next higher level in that skill. For example: if your grade for Speaking is B1, but it falls just below the B2 boundary, and your Grammar & Vocabulary result is above a set point, you will get a B2 level. However, it is important to understand that your level will never be lowered using this or any other procedure.
