Faq. Exámenes ielts

Tips for taking your ielts exam successfully

Oral comprehension

  • Each recording of the listening test will be listened only once.
  • You will have time to read the questions before listening to the recording.
  • As you listen, write your answers on the question sheet. At the end of the test you will have 10 minutes to pass your answers to the answer sheet. It is very important that you pass your answers to the answer sheet, as nothing that is written on the question sheet will be scored.
  • You must write your answers in pencil.
  • On the next page you will find an example of a completed listening comprehension answer sheet.
  • Types of questions to complete (eg, complete notes):

- Pay attention to the word limit; For example, if you are asked to complete a sentence using A MAXIMUM OF TWO WORDS and the correct answer is "leather coat", the answer "coat made of leather" would be incorrect.

- Write only the missing word (s) on the answer sheet; For example, if you have to complete the note “in the…” (for the…) and the correct answer is “morning” (tomorrow), the answer “in the morning” (for the morning) would be incorrect.

- You will listen to the word (s) that you must use in the recording. You will not have to change the form of the word (s) you hear.

 - Pay attention to spelling and grammar: if you make mistakes, you will lose points. - You can write your answers in lowercase or uppercase.

Reading comprehension

  • You can write your answers directly on the answer sheet or write them on the question sheet and move them to the answer sheet before the end of the test. You will not have additional time to pass the answers at the end of the test. Nothing written on the question sheet will be scored.
  • You must write your answers in pencil.
  • On the next page you will find an example of a completed reading comprehension answer sheet.
  • Types of questions to complete (eg, complete notes):

- The same rules apply for types of questions to be completed as for the listening test (see above).

 - The word (s) you use must come from the reading comprehension text. You won't have to change the shape of the word (s) in the text.

Written expression

  • You should write your answers in pencil or pen.
  • Pay attention to the number of words required in each task. You will lose points if you do not write at least 150 words for task 1 and a minimum of 250 words for task 2.
  • You should spend approximately 20 minutes on task 1 and 40 minutes on task 2.
  • You must write complete answers. You will lose points if you write responses in note or bullet form.
  • Pay attention to your spelling, grammar and punctuation - if you make mistakes, you will lose points.
  • If you wish, you can write all of your answers in capital letters.
  • You can take notes on the question sheet, but nothing written on the question sheet will be scored.
