Aptis Writing Test - Video and DemoAptis Writing Test - Video and Demo

Aptis assesses English skills relevant to your requirements. It offers you the flexibility to test all four English skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking along with the main required component (grammar and vocabulary) or to test just one skill, for example writing.

The Aptis writing test consists of  four parts. You'll fill out forms, engage in social media-type written conversation, and write emails. All writing assignments are marked by an examiner. The writing test lasts up to 55 minutes, the times for each section below are only recommendations.

  • Word-level writing (in the first part, you have joined a club, course or activity and must reply to a series of 5 text messages from other members of the club, course or activity. There is no extended writing in this part (without writing sentence), single words only. You should not spend more than three minutes on this part).
  • Short text writing  (this part is again about filling out forms, but this time you should write sentences. You should not spend more than seven minutes on this part).
  • Three written parts of the text, all of which require answers (in this part, you will have a social network type interaction. You will receive three questions and answer. You should not spend more than ten minutes on this part).
  • Formal and informal writing  (This part requires you to write an informal email to a friend and a more formal email to an unknown person. Both emails are a reaction to information about a change. You should not spend more than 20 minutes on this part.)

You will receive results based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). They will indicate their CEFR level (A1-C2) for each skill tested. If you take all 4 skills, you will receive an overall CEFR level and a scaled score (0-50) showing your level for each skill level tested.
