Goethe Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Fit in Deutsch

The Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Fit in Deutsch is a German exam for young people between 12 and 16 years old, which accredits simple language skills and corresponds to level A2 in the six levels of competence of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR) .

Passing the exam means that:

• You can understand and use frequently used phrases and expressions in everyday situations

• You know how to communicate in simple and routine situations that require an exchange of information on common and familiar topics

• You can describe in simple terms your own origins and training, as well as your immediate environment and issues related to your immediate needs.

Exam time distribution

As a general rule, the written exam takes place before the oral exam. In the event that the written and oral tests are not developed on the same date, a maximum period of 14 days will mediate between the completion of these.

The duration of the written exam without including breaks will be 90 minutes.

No pauses are foreseen between the different tests.

Act on the Conduct of the Exam

The development of the exam will be recorded in a record that will contain information about incidents or particularities during the course of the exam and that will be filed together with the documents pertaining to the results of the exam.

Preparation

Before the date of the exam, the person in charge of exams will prepare the material related to the exam, observing the rules of confidentiality. In addition, there will be a review of the content, including sound medium.

The written exam will be developed as follows:

The exam generally begins with the READ test. Participants mark their answers on the candidate handout and then copy them onto the answer sheet. To transcribe their answers, participants should allow approximately 3 minutes within the examination time.

After the READ test, the person in charge of supervision will start the sound support. Participants will first mark their answers on the candidate handout and finally transcribe them on the answer sheet.

To transcribe their results to the answer sheet, the participants have approximately 3 minutes within the examination time.

The participants will then take the WRITING test. The texts will be written directly on the answer sheet.

The TALK test will be developed as follows:

In the beginning, the examiners will greet the participants, introduce themselves briefly, and ask the participants their names, origins  or similar. Before the start of each test, the moderator will explain the statement and clarify it in part 1 through an example. It will also decide which participant will be the one to start.

• In part 1 consecutively, the participants will ask four questions using the keywords found on the task cards and will answer the questions of the partner.

• In part 2 each participant will tell something about themselves using the keywords on the task cards and finally, they will answer one or two questions from the examiners about it.

• Part 3 participants prepare something together from task cards by asking questions, making proposals, and reacting to them.

Assessment of the written exam

The evaluation of the written parts of the exam will be carried out in the exam center or in official places designated for this purpose. The proofreading will be carried out by two separate evaluators. Only the answers recorded on the answer sheet will be counted in the evaluation.

Examiners of the oral exam will not have access to the results of the written exam.

In the “writing” part, a maximum of 20 evaluation points can be obtained, which will be rounded to whole points and multiplied by 1.25 up to a maximum of 25 result points.

Test evaluation Speak

Parts 1 to 3 of the SPEAK section will be evaluated by separate evaluators.

The maximum score that can be achieved in the SPEAKING test is 25 points, of which 4 in part 1 as well as 8 points in parts 2 and 3 and 5 points for pronunciation.

The introduction will not be scored!

In order to calculate the TALK test result, the arithmetic mean of both evaluations is obtained and rounded to whole numbers (to 0.49 it is rounded down and from 0.5 it is rounded up).

The result obtained in the TALKING test is recorded on the result-speak sheet and the accuracy of the calculations will be recorded. Alternatively, examiners' evaluations can also be entered into a digital evaluation screen, regardless of whether a paper or digital exam has been booked. Examiners and assessors must authenticate on the exam platform via individual login details, so signatures are dispensable.

Passing the Exam

The maximum score that can be achieved is 100 points, of which 75 points correspond to the written exam and 25 to the oral one.

The exam is passed on the condition of having obtained at least 60 points (60% of the total score) and having taken all parts of the exam. Of these, at least 45 points must be achieved on the written exam and at least 15 points on the oral exam. Otherwise, the entire exam will be considered as not passed.
