International access LanguageCert ESOL A2

LanguageCert International ESOL A2 access is our second level of qualification for basic users of English, aligned with the CEFR 'Waystage' level.

 

The LanguageCert IESOL A2 exams assess candidates on all four language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking), using everyday sentences and expressions related to personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment, etc. The LanguageCert IESOL A2 exams increase candidates' confidence before continuing to learn towards the B1 Achiever level.

 

There are two exams for this level:

  • Written exam (listening, reading, writing) 
  • Spoken exam (talk)

Listen to short conversations with two speakers twice to identify: topic, purpose, context, speakers, essence, relationship between speakers, roles, attitudes, feelings, and opinions.

Part 4

6 questions

A form with six headings and multiple choice options to mark the correct information for each heading

Listen to a conversation with two speakers twice to identify specific information

  • Two or three situations are presented by the interlocutor and the candidates respond to and initiate interactions

  • Exchange information to identify similarities and differences in images of familiar situations

  • 30 seconds of prep time
  • Talk about a topic provided by the interlocutor for half a minute.
  • Answer follow-up questions
